Hand Shadows - Bring Creatures to Life in Your Camping Tent
Did you know shadow pictures were the first motion pictures? Some grandmother or maybe a child discovered that her hands’ shadow against the wall looked like a dog’s head and soon creative hands started bringing all sorts of creatures to life.
It's really fun to create a magical motion picture for your kids right in your camping tent with hand shadows. All you need are 1) a flashlight, 2) a tent wall and 3) your hands.
Here are 10 different creatures to bring to life inside your tent.

Hand Shadow Success tips:
1. The stronger the light and the whiter the wall, the sharper the image. If your tent wall is dark, tack a light-colored bed sheet on it.
2. A strong and bright flickering candle can cause the shadows to ‘move’
3. Practice, practice at home (use an old film projector for strong light source).
4. Tell a tale with it.
The video below shows how a wonderful story by the famous hand shadow masters team.
By the way, another fun story-telling camping tradition is ghost stories. My favorite is Where is my golden A-a-r-r-R-R-M-M? . Hehe, I think the little ones will prefer hand shadows …
