Two-Person Dome Tents
Technorati tags: two person dome tent, marmot tents, 1 person tent
Only us campers come up with brilliant ideas like this, but a two person dome tent makes a most romantic wedding gift. Just look at the floor plan of a typical two-person tent. Is that romantic or what?
Along with the camping tent you also gift to the couple a lifetime of relishing the outdoors. Surely you've heard that couples that camp together stay together? Ok, let's be specific, he will love the tent for the outdoor fun it represents, she will love it for the intimacy of sleeping in a private two-person dome under a starlit sky.
When buying a tent for two, the criteria is similar to the criteria for buying a large tent. However, pay more attention to things that affect the sense of roominess. You want a cozy tent, not a
clautrophobia-inducing bivy sack.
Factors that add roominess to your two-person tent
- A dome shape. A dome tent means more vertical walls and a roomier feel at the top. Remember, you have to sit up to change your clothes at some point.
- Option for shelves or gear loft, it's like adding an attic to your tent.
- Tent doors that can be neatly held open with ties.
- Windows in fly for increased views and ventilation
- A moonroof to gaze at the stars above (all campers love to do that, not just honeymooners). It also makes you think about the vastness of the heavens and not the smallness of your tent.
You'll see what I mean when you look at the Marmot Limelight 2-person Tent (just came out this year). The windows are not just holes in the wall, it is integrated into the whole design of the tent.
Or the almost-bare-midriff Eos 2-person dome tent. A word of caution: a tent with an all-around screening like this needs to be made of tough high-quality material so screens are rugged and don't tear. Don't look for them in Walmart. What happens when it rains? Don't worry, they come with a rain fly to keep you dry.

Yes Myrtha, this is a good airy tent, but has too much screening and not tub floor for any rainy weather camping. This is most likely a great summer tent with max. ventilation and stargazing. But for more rainy weather you need a tent with a tub floor and sizable rainfly. The tub floor should come up the wall about 4-6 inches and the rainfly should cover the top 1/3 of the tent. Oh…and don't forget to use a ground cloth or footprint under the tent!
